The father of the 14-year-old boy accused of fatally stabbing his schoolmate at SMK Bandar Utama Damansara (4) has spoken out, saying his son's actions have left him heartbroken

In an interview with China Press, the 40-year-old man, who requested anonymity, said he never imagined his son could commit such a violent act.

"My son has always been quiet and introverted. I never thought he was capable of hurting anyone," he said, his voice breaking.

"I know that whatever I say now means nothing. No matter what I do, it won't bring back their daughter. I don't know how to face the victim's family."

He said he dropped his son off at school that morning as usual and did not notice anything amiss

"My son didn't show any strange behaviour. The day started out completely normal," the Mandarin-language daily quoted him as saying.

Although his son struggled academically and often seemed distracted in class, the father said he was not the kind to cause trouble.

"He was never a problematic child. He kept to himself, didn't talk much, and rarely told me what was happening at school — even if something was wrong."

The father said the tragedy has left him devastated, and that no apology would ever be enough

"This has been a huge blow to me. My heart is broken over what he's done," he said.

He added that he has not seen his son since the arrest and is still waiting for a chance to speak with him to understand what happened.

"I haven't met him since the incident, so I don't even know what was going through his mind," he said.

Meanwhile, responding to earlier reports that the suspect had confessed his feelings to the victim before the attack, the father said he was unaware of any such incident.

"I didn't know anything about that. He never mentioned her to me before," he said.

Police yesterday, 14 October, confirmed that a 16-year-old female student at the secondary school in Bandar Utama was stabbed to death by a 14-year-old male schoolmate

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said the boy had been arrested and that the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The victim and suspect were previously reported to be in Form Four and Form Two, but police have since clarified that both had attended remove classes — meaning the victim was in Form Three and the suspect in Form One.

This follows earlier police statements confirming that no elements of bullying have been found in the case so far.

The motive behind the attack remains under investigation.
