Police say there are no signs of bullying in the case of the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old girl at a national secondary school in Bandar Utama Damansara (4) in Petaling Jaya this morning, 14 October
The victim, a Form Four student, was found dead with multiple stab wounds in the school toilet after teachers heard her screams at around 9.10am.
"A teacher heard a scream and tried to get help, but the incident had already occurred," Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Shamsudin Mamat said, adding that a 14-year-old Form Two boy from the same school has been arrested.
"Preliminary checks showed that the victim sustained multiple stab wounds to the body.
"The actual number of injuries will be confirmed following a post-mortem examination at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) later today," the New Straits Times quoted him as saying.
He said police also seized two weapons believed to have been used in the fatal attack
According to Shamsudin, there's a possibility that the suspect and the victim knew one another, though they may not have been friends.
"The motive for the murder is still under investigation, but at this stage, we have found no indication that the case involved bullying," he said.
Police are currently recording statements from witnesses, including teachers, students, and classmates of both the victim and suspect.

A remand order will be sought against the boy to assist in investigations
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail earlier described the case as "tragic" and said police will continue to investigate all possible motives.
