The Education Ministry (MOE) has formed a special committee to investigate the fatal stabbing in which a Form Four student was killed at SMK Bandar Utama Damansara (4) in Petaling Jaya
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the ministry has also deployed a team of counsellors to provide psychosocial support to the school community.
"The ministry extends its condolences to the victim's family," she said, adding that the ministry will give its full cooperation to the ongoing police investigation.
Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Shamsudin Mamat earlier confirmed that the 16-year-old girl was stabbed multiple times by a 14-year-old male student from the same school.
Two sharp weapons believed to have been used in the fatal attack were seized at the scene, and police confirmed that no one else was harmed.
The motive remains under investigation, but Shamsudin said no element of bullying has been found so far.

"Schools should be the safest places for our children.
"As a father who also has a daughter, I cannot imagine the situation the victim's parents are going through, and I extend my condolences to them. May they be given strength and protection in facing this horrific tragedy," Amirudin said in a statement.
He added that the state government will work closely with the police, education ministry, and local communities to enhance safety measures at schools across Selangor.
Amirudin stated that new security and mental health support measures for students will be discussed at the upcoming state executive council meeting and that these actions will be implemented quickly.
