US President Donald Trump has nominated Nick Adams, a conservative influencer and author, for the role of US ambassador to Malaysia
Trump announced his pick on Truth Social, describing Adams as a "remarkable patriot" and successful entrepreneur.
Australian-born Adams became a US citizen in 2021, and rose to wider prominence when Trump endorsed his 2016 book, Green Card Warrior: My Quest for Legal Immigration in an Illegals' System, calling it a "must read".
According to the Malay Mail, Adams has authored several other books that firmly align him with the American right-wing, including The Most Dangerous President In History (which is about former US president Joe Biden), and Alpha Kings, a book which, according to its Amazon synopsis, "shows the young men of America what it means to be a true alpha male in today's hyper-feminised world".

According to Politico, the suspension came after he verbally abused a television journalist on camera in 2009.
A Sydney councillor at the time, he also faced criticism for neglecting his duties in favour of presenting motivational seminars in the US.
He had also made statements "which were likely to embarrass or cause damage to the reputation of the Liberal Party."
A self-described "alpha male", Adams is known for his provocative online social media presence
Besides sharing his political and cultural views on X, Adams is also known for his exaggerated praise of Trump.

The nomination has been sent to the Senate for confirmation proceedings. If approved, Adams would succeed Edward Kagan, who was appointed to the post by Biden in 2023.
