The Petaling Jaya Magistrate's Court has acquitted and discharged singer Wee Meng Chee, popularly known as Namewee, of two drug-related charges
Magistrate Khairunnisak Hassni granted the acquittal after being informed that the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) had accepted Wee's second representation to drop the charges, according to Free Malaysia Today.
The decision marks a reversal from last month, when the AGC initially rejected the singer's first bid to have the charges dropped.
Wee had been charged under Section 9(1) of the Poisons Act 1952 and Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
In January, Wee pleaded not guilty to possessing 0.78g of sildenafil — a controlled substance often used in erectile dysfunction medication — and an amended charge of possessing 1.57g of methamphetamine
The alleged offences took place in a room at the Banyan Tree Hotel on Jalan Conlay on 22 October 2025.
Wee was originally arrested at the hotel shortly after he reported the death of Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yun Hsin.
During the proceedings, Wee was represented by lawyer Fadhli Sutris, while the prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurainizatul Farhana Zainal.
