The Petaling Jaya Magistrate's Court has fixed 16 January 2026 for a review of the psychiatric report in the case of a 14-year-old boy accused of murdering a 16-year-old female student at SMK Bandar Utama Damansara (4) in October

Magistrate Amira Sariaty Zainal made the decision after allowing a request from the defence team earlier today, 19 December.

According to defence counsel Kitson Foong, the juvenile accused is still receiving psychiatric treatment and assessment at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta in Perak.

"This will be the final date, and in the meantime, all evaluations, including interviews with family members, reviewing documentation, and assessing evidence, will be completed with the assistance of the investigating officer," Foong told reporters outside the court.

He added that the accused, who has not been named as per the law, did not need to be present at the hearing, while representatives present included the Deputy Public Prosecutor Syed Ahmed Khabir Abdul Rahman, the defence counsel, a lawyer representing the victim's family, a monitoring lawyer, and SUHAKAM officials.

Foong said the teenager was responding positively to treatment

"To my knowledge, he is receiving therapy and responding well. The recovery process is progressing positively, and the total evaluation period is three months," he explained.

During the first mention, the charge was read in Mandarin before Magistrate Amira in a closed proceeding, given that the accused is a juvenile. No plea was recorded, as a murder charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code must be tried in the High Court.

The alleged murder took place on 14 October 2025, when the 14-year-old is accused of killing his 16-year-old schoolmate in the girls' toilet between 9.20am and 9.35am, by repeatedly stabbing her.
