He said Yap left their classroom on the third floor to use the girls' restroom on the ground floor

When she did not return after around 20 minutes, their teacher went to look for her and spotted the knife-wielding suspect behaving suspiciously in the assembly compound.

"We were then told to immediately close the doors and were forbidden from leaving," he said.

According to him, the suspect's elder brother and several teachers later managed to restrain the boy.

Adam, who was classmates with Yap for three years, described her as "very caring, always polite, and helpful"

He also said neither he nor Yap personally knew the suspect, who was from another class on the ground floor.

Adam added that he has not returned to school for the past few days due to trauma from the incident.

The incident has reportedly left many students struggling to sleep and afraid of returning to school

According to China Press, some parents criticised the school for expecting students to resume classes the next day, alleging that blood stains were not even immediately cleaned up, causing further distress.

One parent told the outlet, "Because my son saw the attacker walking around the school with a knife, he can't sleep whenever he thinks of the scene. I don't dare to let him go to school now."

It was reported that only about a hundred students attended classes the next day.
