The BUDI95 targeted subsidy, which lets Malaysians buy RON95 at RM1.99 per litre, will be available nationwide starting tomorrow, 30 September
But do you know how to redeem the subsidised fuel at different petrol station brands?
Since each company has its own system — and in some cases, its own app — the redemption process can vary.
In this article, we'll walk you through the five petrol station operators in Malaysia, explain how to redeem BUDI95 at each, and highlight any preparations you need to make beforehand.
Pro tip: If your credit card offers cashback or extra reward points for fuel, pay at the pump as usual, then insert your MyKad into the same terminal as an additional step.
If your MyKad chip is faulty, make sure to set up your TNG eWallet account or the relevant petrol station apps to purchase RON95 at the subsidised price.

1. BHPetrol

• Pay with your credit or debit card at the pump, then insert your MyKad into the same terminal's card slot.
• Pay with cash or your credit or debit card at the counter, then insert your MyKad into the dedicated payment terminal.
• Pay with TNG eWallet at the counter:
1. Click "BUDI95" on the app.
2. Select the petrol station, the pump number, and the amount of fuel.
2. Show the QR code at the counter.

Estimated time to set up a CaltexGo account: Less than five minutes
Methods to redeem: 3 ways
• Pay with cash or your credit or debit card at the counter, then insert your MyKad into the dedicated payment terminal.
• Pay with CaltexGo:
1. Link your CaltexGo account with your TNG eWallet account and your debit/credit card.
2. Select "Pump and Pay" on its homepage.
3. Choose the pump number and the amount of fuel.
4. Start fuelling.
• Pay with TNG eWallet at the counter:
1. Click "BUDI95" on the app.
2. Select the petrol station, the pump number, and the amount of fuel.

Methods to redeem: 3 ways
• Insert your MyKad to check for eligibility at the pump terminal before paying with your credit or debit card.
• Pay with cash or your credit or debit card at the counter, then insert your MyKad into the dedicated payment terminal.
• Pay with TNG eWallet at the counter

Estimated time to set up a Setel account: Less than 10 minutes
Note: To redeem BUDI95 via Setel, you must first complete an e-KYC process by snapping photos of your MyKad and face to verify your identity and activate your account. Payment is made using the credit you've reloaded in the app.
Methods to redeem: 3 ways
• Pay with your credit or debit card at the pump, then insert your MyKad into the same terminal's card slot.
• Pay with cash or your credit or debit card at the counter, then insert your MyKad into the dedicated payment terminal.
• One of three ways to pay with Setel:
