METMalaysia Issues Level 1 Heat Alert For 17 Areas, Including Petaling

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) has placed 17 areas nationwide under a Level 1 hot weather alert
According to the New Straits Times, the affected areas include Gombak, Petaling, and Sepang in Selangor.
The alert also covers the whole of Perlis, along with Kubang Pasu, Pendang, Kota Setar, and Padang Terap in Kedah.
In Perak, Kuala Kangsar and Hulu Perak are on alert, while in Kelantan, the affected areas are Jeli, Pasir Mas, Tanah Merah, and Machang.
In East Malaysia, Beaufort and Telupid in Sabah, as well as Limbang in Sarawak, have also been placed under the alert.
According to METMalaysia, these areas have recorded daily maximum temperatures of between 35°C and 37°C for at least three consecutive days.

The department said conditions across Malaysia have been hot and humid, following the trend of relatively clear and warm mornings before thunderstorms and heavy, localised rainfall in the evenings
It said this pattern is typical of the inter-monsoon phase.
In a weather update yesterday, 29 April, daily maximum temperatures in most states ranged from 32°C to 36°C, with some areas recording higher readings.
Kuala Krai recorded the highest temperature at 36.4°C.
