7 Roads Around Batu Caves To Be Closed For Thaipusam From 30 Jan To 3 Feb

Several roads around Batu Caves in Gombak, Selangor will be closed for Thaipusam celebrations from 30 January to 3 February
In a statement today, 29 January, Selangor police said these roads will be closed in stages, depending on traffic conditions, from 1am on Friday, 30 January, until the end of Tuesday, 3 February, to ensure a smooth and safe Thaipusam, which falls on Sunday, 1 February.
Millions of Hindu devotees and visitors are expected to flock to the iconic Batu Caves temple dedicated to Lord Murugan during this long weekend.

Here are the affected roads:
– Traffic lights at Kampung Melayu Batu Caves
– Slip road from MRR2 towards Batu Caves Temple
– Jalan Perusahaan leading to Batu Caves Temple
– MRR2 slip road from Sri Gombak to Jalan Perusahaan
– Jalan Seri Batu Caves 8 / Jalan Batu Caves Lama junction
– Seri Batu Caves traffic light junction (in front of Shell station)
– Batu Caves Bypass slip road towards the main entrance of Batu Caves Temple
Police have also advised road users to avoid major roads such as DUKE, NKVE, Jalan Kuching, Jalan Gombak, and Jalan Sungai Tua to help reduce traffic congestion from the Rawang and Selayang areas.

Selangor police chief Commissioner Datuk Shazeli Kahar said a total of 1,520 officers will be deployed to help manage traffic and ensure public safety
He also reminded the public that the Batu Caves temple area is a no-drone zone, warning that anyone intending to operate a drone must first obtain approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), or face legal action.
Shazeli also advised visitors to Batu Caves to plan their journeys in advance, park only in designated areas, and ensure their vehicles are locked for a safe and enjoyable Thaipusam celebration.
