A 46-year-old Malaysian woman was arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle over 2kg of drugs, including cannabis and methamphetamine, into Singapore
According to Bernama, the woman was arrested on Monday, 23 June, during an enhanced check at Woodlands Checkpoint.
Authorities found about 1.06kg of cannabis and 973g of methamphetamine hidden beneath the front fairing of the motorcycle she was riding.
In a joint statement, Singapore's Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), said the drugs were packaged in a total of seven bundles, hidden under the panel.
"The drugs seized have an estimated worth of more than SGD142,000 (about RM470,000) and could potentially feed the addiction of about 700 abusers for a week," the statement read.

The drugs were found concealed in a motorcycle ridden by the 46-year-old Malaysian woman.

Under the Act, anyone convicted of trafficking 250g or more of methamphetamine, or 500g or more of cannabis, faces the death penalty.
"ICA will continue to work with CNB to prevent attempts to smuggle drugs across our borders.
"ICA will also continue to conduct security checks at the checkpoints to prevent attempts to smuggle undesirable persons, weapons, explosives and other contrabands across our borders," read the statement.
Singapore is known globally for its tough drug trafficking laws, including the mandatory death penalty, a stark contrast to neighbouring Malaysia, which has abolished the mandatory death sentence for such offences.
