Taiwanese influencer and former nurse Iris Hsieh Yu-hsin died while reportedly working with local film director and rapper Namewee in Malaysia

According to Sin Chew Daily, Hsieh died of a heart attack. Her body was reportedly found in a bathtub in a hotel room in Kuala Lumpur on 22 October.

Her manager, Chris, said her parents are currently in Malaysia to arrange her funeral. They are considering further investigation into her cause of death, as they find it hard to believe their healthy and physically fit daughter could have died from a sudden medical issue.

Dang Wangi police chief ACP Sazalee Adam confirmed that Namewee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, is linked to Hsieh's death, according to the Chinese daily.

Wee was reportedly meeting Hsieh at the hotel to discuss a music video shoot and alerted the authorities after finding her unconscious.

He was later arrested for drug possession and tested positive for amphetamines, methamphetamine, ketamine, and THC.

In a statement on Instagram yesterday, 2 November, Wee denied taking any drugs and claimed that the ambulance took an hour to arrive to assist Hsieh.

According to Taiwanese media outlet NOWNews, Hsieh lost the tip of her right ring finger as a teenager.

The incident occurred while she was working at her family's factory, where a hydraulic machine crushed her finger.

She was rushed to hospital for surgery to reattach the fingertip, but two days later, the finger turned black, and doctors had to amputate it.
