Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching has reminded the public that they have until 31 December to spend the RM100 Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) one-off aid

According to Bernama, Teo said there's no need to rush and crowd payment counters at retail outlets.

"To avoid long queues, you can go to any of the selected grocery stores nearby or shop periodically. Don't worry as you have four months to use this financial assistance," she said.

The statement follows scenes of large crowds flocking to grocery stores to spend the aid since its rollout on Monday, 1 September.

Teo also assured the public that there should be no more concerns over system disruptions when redeeming the aid

She noted that while the system experienced crashes during the first two days of the rollout due to overwhelming demand, the Finance Ministry has since boosted its processing capacity by 60% to ensure smoother transactions.

"I feel that the system crashed on the first and second day because too many people tried to redeem the assistance at the same time. Now, they need not worry about making purchases using SARA," she said.
