Rice, eggs, and bread have emerged as the top three essentials Malaysians are buying with their RM100 Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) credit

According to the New Straits Times, Mydin Mall Subang Jaya operations general manager S Vishnu Vanthana said these items have been the most sought-after purchases made with the government aid.

The Finance Ministry revealed that over RM110 million has already been spent by 1.7 million SARA recipients in the first two days of the initiative, which launched on 1 September

In a statement on Monday, the ministry said on day one alone, more than 850,000 Malaysians spent over RM50 million, followed by another 900,000 spending over RM60 million on day two.

The ministry also acknowledged glitches in the MyKasih payment system that, according to Kosmo!, caused some shoppers to abandon their shopping carts full of items at certain locations.

Following the surge in transactions recorded, the ministry said it has upgraded the system capacity to enable 20% more transactions to be processed.
