The Ministry of Finance (MOF) has announced that subsidised RON95 will remain at RM1.99 per litre under the BUDI95 programme to help protect households ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri
This comes as global crude oil prices have exceeded USD100 (RM393) per barrel amid the conflict in West Asia. Despite this, the ministry said it remains committed to cushioning the impact on Malaysians while gradually adjusting market fuel prices in line with global trends.
From 19 to 25 March, RON97 will increase by 70 sen per litre, while diesel in Peninsular Malaysia will go up 80 sen per litre.
The ministry also noted that although Malaysia is an oil-producing country, petroleum products for domestic use are still sourced from the global market, meaning local fuel prices are still affected by international price movements.
However, MOF stressed that it has chosen not to fully pass on these costs to the public.

Under targeted subsidy measures, subsidised RON95 will remain at RM1.99 per litre, while diesel prices in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan will stay at RM2.15 per litre
Subsidised diesel for public transport and the land freight sector will also remain at RM2.15 per litre.
Meanwhile, the price of unsubsidised RON95 will continue to be capped at RM3.27 per litre to avoid adding financial pressure on Malaysians travelling during the festive period.
The government added that maintaining these targeted subsidies costs more than RM3 billion per month.
Here's a quick breakdown of the fuel prices for 19 to 25 March 2026:
RON97: RM4.55 per litre (up 70 sen)
RON95 (unsubsidised): RM3.27 per litre (unchanged)
RON95 (subsidised): RM1.99 per litre (unchanged)
Diesel (Peninsular Malaysia): RM4.72 per litre (up 80 sen)
Diesel (Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan): RM2.15 per litre (unchanged)
