A 25-year-old woman in Johor is under police investigation for allegedly filing a false report claiming an e-hailing driver raped her

Iskandar Puteri police chief ACP M Kumarasan said the woman lodged the report yesterday morning, 24 November.

In her report, she alleged that the incident had happened the previous night around 8.30pm, in the e-hailing vehicle along Jalan Pulai Perdana in Kangkar Pulai.

She claimed that she was raped and forced to commit carnal intercourse against the order of nature with the driver, reported FMT.

Investigators found her claims to be false

According to Kumarasan, police investigations revealed the report was fabricated after she was reprimanded by her family for coming home late.

He added that the woman, who is unemployed, has given her statement to the police, and investigations are ongoing, reported the New Straits Times.

Kumarasan reminded the public that filing false reports is a crime under Section 182 of the Penal Code

It carries a maximum six-month jail term, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both.
