A young woman in Bangi, Selangor has gone viral for her creative use of the government's Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) aid — turning the RM100 cash assistance into capital for a kek batik business during her semester break

A mother, Farraheeda, shared on Threads that her daughter decided to sell kek batik indulgence, with ingredients eligible under the SARA aid categories such as Marie biscuists, MILO, and milk.

"She wanted to make kek batik indulgence, and with the SARA money, she could buy packets of Marie biscuits, MILO, and milk.

"I only helped pay for the containers to encourage her to earn her own money," the proud mum added.

The mother said her daughter aspires to open her own café one day

Farra told SAYS that her daughter, Azreeqa Adzreen, 22, is currently pursuing a Diploma in Pastry at the Food Institute of Malaysia in Petaling Jaya.

"She's now in her sixth semester, and will be having online classes until December. Her internship starts in January 2026," she said.

"Usually, during long breaks she'll work, but this time since it's a short semester break, she chose to just make simple desserts," Farra also told Majoriti.

Thanks to the viral post, Farra added that her daughter's homemade kek batik has been selling out daily

Limited by fridge space, she makes just 20 boxes a day, priced at RM10 each, with deliveries within Bangi, Kajang, and Semenyih.

The story has since drawn much praise online, with many lauding the student's resourcefulness and entrepreneurial spirit

"Great mindset of an entrepreneur!" one Facebook user commented.

"This is an example of the multiplier effect in the economy. Good on your daughter, and congrats to mum," another added.

"What a spirit! May Allah bless her business," a netizen wished, while another said, "This is how wise people will multiply RM100 into RM1,000."

Even Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan has chimed in on Threads, saying his office is keen to try the young baker's brownies.
