The Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) RM100 programme has recorded a strong uptake since it kicked off on 31 August

More than 2.9 million Malaysians have already used the aid in just three days, according to the New Straits Times.

The Finance Ministry shared that a total of 1.1 million successful transactions worth RM75.3 million were recorded on 2 September alone, the highest daily figure so far. This pushed overall spending under the scheme to RM192.4 million by the end of the third day.

The ministry also noted that the transaction success rate had climbed to 95%, up from 79% on launch day.

The one-off RM100 aid, which targets 22 million eligible Malaysians aged 18 and above, is meant to ease the cost of living.

A total of RM2 billion has been allocated, and recipients can spend the credit until 31 December 2025 at more than 7,300 participating shops and supermarkets.

Any unused balance will be channelled back into future assistance programmes for vulnerable groups.
