Man Arrested For Attacking 12-Year-Old Girl With Hammer At JB Flat

A 39-year-old man has been arrested after CCTV footage showed a girl bleeding from the head, allegedly after being attacked by him

According to the New Straits Times, Johor Baru North police chief ACP Balveer Singh said the 12-year-old girl was allegedly attacked in the lobby of a flat in Ungku Tun Aminah, Johor Bahru last Saturday, 26 July.

The victim's parent lodged a police report at 5.19pm the same day, leading to the man's arrest at his home shortly after.

The man tested positive for methamphetamine and has a history of criminal offences.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon. The suspect has been remanded for seven days until 2 August.

A two-minute CCTV clip showing the victim screaming and running in the lobby went viral over the weekend

In the video, the man is seen loitering in the lobby before walking out of frame.

Moments later, screams are heard, and the victim runs into frame and enters the elevator.

Inside the elevator, another camera captures her hand smeared with blood after she runs it along the back of her head.

The actual moment of the assault was not captured.
