UPDATE:

5 Teenage Students Arrested After Performing Mat Rempit Stunts In Front Of An Ambulance

A video taken by an ambulance driver showing a group of Mat Rempit blocking his vehicle on the North–South Expressway (NSE) has gone viral, sparking anger among Malaysians over their reckless and selfish behaviour

Uploaded by TikTok user @SyakirinSyafi, the clip shows the ambulance siren blaring non-stop as half a dozen riders spread across multiple lanes, racing in slippery conditions. Despite the siren and repeated honking, they refused to move aside.

Some riders even struck the 'Superman' pose, lying flat on their motorcycle seats while speeding through the rain.

Inside the ambulance, the ambulance driver can be heard shouting — "bodoh" and "don't have brains?" — in frustration as he tries to make his way through.

In his caption, the driver explained that his team was responding to an emergency call about a car that had skidded on the highway.

"We were rushing to the scene, and we encountered these 'not-too-clever' boys doing nonsense in front of us. We sounded our horns, but they just ignored us. Haish… they are really causing problems to others," he wrote.

As of publication, the video has garnered over 2.7 million views.

The video also captured the rain-soaked road and the blaring siren as the driver desperately tries to get past the group, a scene many viewers called infuriating

Malaysians in the comments expressed anger over the riders' reckless behaviour, with many calling for the police to take action.

"What if it were your family member involved in the accident and waiting for the ambulance? Would you still be laughing?" one person commented.

"They're not only endangering their lives but also others. PDRM, please take immediate action," another wrote.

"When they crash and need an ambulance, hopefully they'll get karma and the ambulance takes two days to arrive," said another.

Under Section 9(2) of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 (LN166/59), road users who fail to give way to emergency vehicles such as ambulances, police cars, or fire engines can be fined up to RM300.
