A female teacher, who was caught on video abusing a 2-year-old girl at a childcare centre in Selangor on 18 August, has been arrested
According to Kuala Langat police chief Supt Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi, the arrest followed a report lodged by the child's mother on the night of 24 August, with the 38-year-old teacher taken into custody the same day.
In a statement on 31 August, Mohd Akmalrizal said the incident occurred at a childcare centre in Bandar Rimbayu, Kuala Langat around 6pm, where the teacher, a local woman, allegedly dragged the child from the classroom to the bathroom by her hair.
He said that the suspect also reportedly struck the child's head using a small food cover and a water bottle.
"While the girl didn't have any visible injuries, the act clearly amounts to physical and mental abuse," he added.

The incident came to light after the victim's mother was informed by another teacher about the alleged abuse
The mother later obtained footage from the centre's CCTV cameras, which appeared to show the alleged abuse.
"On 22 August, the mother reviewed the recordings and found that the incident did indeed occur, as verified through the CCTV footage," he said in the statement.
In the video, the teacher is also seen kicking the child while dragging her with her feet. The footage of the alleged abuse can be seen below:
