A viral video shows several women catching a civil servant secretly recording a woman at a market in Temerloh, Pahang, an incident that quickly escalated into a public confrontation
The 41-year-old clerk was allegedly filming a 33-year-old woman without her consent.
In the video, three women physically restrained the man: one with an arm locked around his neck from behind, another gripping his shirt collar, and a third holding his phone while slapping him and showing him the screen.
During the confrontation, one woman shouted, "Dia merakam perempuan!" (He is recording women!), while another demanded, "Dah berapa kali kau buat?" (How many times have you done this?).
The man is repeatedly heard saying, "Minta maaf" (I'm sorry) and insisting, "Tak ada" (Never), as bystanders urged, "Hantar balai je" (Just send him to the police station).
While the incident occurred on 9 November, the case only came to light yesterday, 19 November, according to Berita Harian.
Temerloh district police chief ACP Mohd Nasyim Bahron said officers arrived after receiving a report and took the man into custody, along with his mobile phone
"Checks found several covertly recorded videos of the victim in the phone gallery, along with other pornographic videos and images," he said.
The suspect was detained for 24 hours before being released, while investigators continue analysing the contents of the device.
The investigation paper will be sent to the deputy public prosecutor for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 509A of the Penal Code for insulting a person's modesty.
