A viral dashcam video has captured the moment a car ran a red light along Persiaran Kemajuan and slammed into a married couple on a motorcycle, leaving both injured

Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said the incident occurred about 11.20am three days ago.

"The incident occurred when a black Honda, coming from the opposite direction, ran a red light and turned right into the path of the couple's motorcycle.

"This caused the couple to be thrown off their motorcycle, after which they were hit by a Perodua Myvi travelling in the same direction," he said in a statement yesterday, 25 August.

As a result of the crash, the couple and their motorcycle were dragged several metres along the road before the car came to a stop.

Naazron said the couple, both 26, were sent to Sungai Long Specialist Hospital and Serdang Hospital for treatment, reported the New Straits Times.

The driver of the Honda, a 59-year-old woman, claimed she had been confused

Naazron said the woman claimed she thought the traffic lights for both straight and right-turning vehicles had turned green.

"The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act for careless and inconsiderate driving, which carries a fine of up to RM10,000 with a possible jail term not exceeding 12 months."
