Dang Wangi police chief ACP Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman sustained facial injuries today, 11 September, while overseeing an eviction operation at Kampung Sungai Baru

The incident occurred amid chaos when residents pushed to enter the area during the operation, which was conducted under the supervision of court-appointed bailiffs and in collaboration with several government agencies.

Suzilme was seen with visible cuts and bleeding on his face as a result of the scuffle.

The operation is part of a court-ordered process to demolish structures in the area.

Police urged residents to disperse, and Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel were placed on standby

Media personnel were barred from entering the site, reported the New Straits Times.

According to Berita Harian, some residents had gathered since last night to show solidarity with neighbours affected by the eviction.

The operation is part of the long-delayed Kampung Sungai Baru redevelopment, which has faced disputes over compensation and relocation arrangements.

Authorities maintain that the demolition is necessary to proceed with the project, despite opposition from a minority of residents.

Footage of the tense stand-off can be seen below:
