A 4-month-old baby died of suffocation at a childcare centre in Seberang Jaya Hospital, Penang, in the early hours of 9 March

According to Bernama, Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail confirmed the baby boy died from asphyxiation, or severe oxygen deprivation, based on post-mortem findings.

The incident occurred when the victim's mother, Ummu Habibah Wahab, a 30-year-old nurse, received a call at 4am informing her that her child had turned blue while on night duty.

The victim, Hayl Haarith Mohd Syafaeez, was rushed to the hospital's emergency department, where doctors performed CPR for an hour but were unable to revive him, reported FMT.

The next day, 10 March, two female employees of the daycare centre were remanded for seven days.
