Sections of Jalan Bukit Bintang in Kuala Lumpur will be closed in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) Countdown Festival at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur on 31 December

In preparation for the New Year's Eve celebrations, Tourism Malaysia said traffic diversions will be implemented in stages along Jalan Bukit Bintang starting 29 December to support a smooth and safe event.

Organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, the festival marks an early push towards the nation's target of welcoming 47 million international visitor arrivals during the campaign.

Here's the schedule of the closures:

12am, 29 December to 5pm, 31 December:
The lane between the JW Marriott Hotel junction and the Sephora junction will be closed for event preparations.

– 5pm, 31 December to 2am, 1 January:
The road between the Jalan Raja Chulan junction and the Bukit Bintang 'Shibuya' crossing at Jalan Sultan Ismail will be fully closed and reserved for the countdown celebration.

During the closures, vehicles will be diverted via the connecting road between The Westin Kuala Lumpur and JW Marriott Hotel, with access to Jalan Palmer, Jalan Imbi, and Jalan Walter Granier.

Access to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur car parks will remain open.

MRT and LRT services will operate extended hours into the early morning of 1 January 2026 to support a safe and convenient journey home.
