The Visit Malaysia 2026 tourism campaign will officially kick off with the launch of the 'I LITE U' initiative in Bukit Bintang on Saturday, 3 January
The 'I LITE U' project is a government-led effort to beautify and illuminate key areas of the city, particularly Bukit Bintang, with the aim of positioning Kuala Lumpur as a premier nighttime tourism destination.
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said the opening event of Visit Malaysia 2026 will be launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Oscar-winning actress Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh.
The ceremony will take place in front of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur at 7.30pm.
According to the New Straits Times, Nga said the "mega launch" is expected to draw thousands of local and international tourists.

Nga said the public can also look forward to a grand parade, as well as live performances by well-known local artistes.
He said the event will reflect the unity and shared aspirations of Malaysia MADANI at its best, and encouraged Malaysians to take part in the celebration.
"I welcome all Malaysians to join the festivities and to use public transportation to help ease traffic congestion.
"As we prepare to welcome the tourism year, I would also like to remind all Malaysians to uphold public cleanliness and the city's image, so that every visitor leaves with warm and lasting memories of feeling at home in Malaysia," he said.
He reiterated that the community service order for littering offences will come into effect on 1 January 2026, stressing the importance of maintaining a clean and tourist-friendly environment.
