The official event will see a full closure of Jalan Bukit Bintang from Pavilion Kuala Lumpur to Federal Hotel

It comprises two key segments — an opening ceremony inside Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and a launch ceremony featuring a cultural parade along Jalan Bukit Bintang.

According to Bernama, the parade includes 20 contingents, including seven marching bands, moving from Pavilion to the front of Federal Hotel and passing through the iconic Jalan Sultan Ismail intersection.

Road closures affecting Jalan Bukit Bintang and the adjacent Jalan Sultan Ismail will take place from:
– 6pm to 11pm on 1 January 2026
– 6pm to midnight on 3 January 2026

In addition, the main Jalan Bukit Bintang road will be closed from 5pm on Wednesday, 31 December, until 2am the following day to facilitate New Year's Eve celebrations.

Mohd Zamzuri said the closures would be implemented by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), urging road users to comply with traffic instructions and plan their travel accordingly

The 'I LITE U' project is a government initiative aimed at beautifying and illuminating the city, especially Bukit Bintang, to position Kuala Lumpur as a premier nighttime tourism destination in support of Visit Malaysia 2026.
