A group of joggers and a pet owner came together to rescue a weak and malnourished husky found abandoned in Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur, on Sunday, 27 July
Speaking to SAYS, May, 33, said the female husky was in a severely weakened state when three joggers spotted her struggling to walk along the roadside.
Concerned for her well-being, they moved her to a shaded area and got her food and water from a nearby café.
As May was walking her own dog through the area, the joggers called out for help. They explained that they did not have their cars with them, and attempts to contact animal rescue groups had been unsuccessful, as most were already at full capacity.
"At that point, they have been with [the husky] for two hours.
"From there, we took her to the vet, where she underwent tests, was shaved, gently cleaned, and stayed overnight," May recounted.
May added that although the husky was in a fragile state, it was clear she had once lived around people.
"Even at the vet, she was incredibly gentle and didn't flinch during tests and needles."

Since then, her condition has stabilised. The husky has tested negative for pancreatitis, parvovirus, diabetes, and other major illnesses.
May, who affectionately named the husky Darling, plans to send her for fostering with a professional dog trainer once she is well enough to be discharged. She said the trainer, who works regularly with rescued animals, offers services at a reasonable rate.
So far, over RM3,500 has been spent on Darling's treatment, including RM1,600 in vet and diagnostic bills, and a RM1,900 hospital deposit.
The figure does not include costs for physiotherapy, which may increase the total further. May said donations from friends and the public have helped ease some of the financial burdens.
While a few people have expressed interest in adopting Darling, May said the focus now is solely on her recovery.
"The priority is getting her well first. Everything else can come after," May said.
She also hopes Darling's story will serve as a reminder about the responsibilities that come with pet ownership.
"This dog has clearly suffered prolonged starvation and trauma. It's affected her physically and emotionally. Pets are not toys. They're lives — and they deserve love, care, and commitment," she said.
