Two foreign men, suspected to be masterminds behind an armed robbery syndicate, were shot dead along Jalan Semerah Padi in Cheras early this morning, 25 July
According to the New Straits Times, federal police criminal investigation department (CID) acting director Datuk Fadil Marsus said the two men were linked to more than 50 cases of armed robbery and house break-ins, resulting in losses estimated at RM3 million.
"The group was believed to be active mainly in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Pahang, and Perak.
"The two suspects were allegedly scouting for a new target before the shootout occurred at around 3.45am," he told reporters at the scene.

The suspects were in a Honda Civic, believed to have been stolen in Subang Jaya in 2023
"We attempted to intercept them, but there was resistance and a shootout ensued, which led to the deaths of both suspects," Fadil said.
The gang is believed to consist of around 15 members and has been active since 2022. They are also suspected of being involved in drug-related activities.
The police found various tools used for housebreaking, a stash of drugs, a revolver, and a semi-automatic pistol inside the vehicle, reported Harian Metro.
Fadil noted that the gang typically targeted bungalow homes, end-lot, and corner-lot houses, often carrying firearms and machetes during the robberies.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were foreign nationals who had been legally residing in Malaysia for several years.
