The police have named local rapper Wee Meng Chee, better known as Namewee, as a person of interest in the investigation into the murder of Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yu-hsin, also known as Iris Hsieh
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said investigators are tracing Namewee's movements to determine his involvement in the case.
"For now, we regard this person [Namewee] who was last with the victim as being involved in the case," Fadil said.
According to Fadil, the police will be calling the rapper in to assist in the investigation.
"Depending on the findings, we will decide whether he should be treated as a suspect," New Straits Times quoted Fadil as saying today, 4 November.

Namewee, 42, was reportedly in the same room at the time of the incident. He has since been charged with drug use and possession and is currently out on bail.
Fadil confirmed that what was initially classified as a sudden death report (SDR) has now been reclassified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code, following new evidence suggesting foul play.
He said police are conducting a comprehensive probe into the victim's final days in Malaysia, covering her arrival, hotel stay, transport movements, and all related CCTV footage.
"The team has taken statements from hotel staff, security guards, and transport operators, including airport personnel. It's a comprehensive investigation examining every movement of both the victim and the person last seen with her," Fadil added.
Hsieh had arrived in Malaysia on 20 October for a four-day trip. The full post-mortem and toxicology reports are still pending.
According to Sin Chew Daily, Hsieh was found unresponsive in the bathtub in Namewee's hotel room. He allegedly discovered her body and alerted the authorities around 12.30pm.
Earlier, Dang Wangi police chief ACP Sazalee Adam confirmed that the two had spent the night at the premises.
Police, who were already stationed at the hotel ahead of the ASEAN Summit, responded immediately and found nine pills, believed to be ecstasy, in the room.
Namewee later tested positive for amphetamines, methamphetamine, ketamine, and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). He was remanded for two days and charged on 24 October, pleading not guilty.
His case is set for mention on 18 December.
