Local rapper Wee Meng Chee, better known as Namewee, has been remanded for six days amidst a police investigation into the murder of Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yu-hsin, also known as Iris Hsieh
The remand order was obtained today, 5 November, at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters, confirmed Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Sazalee Adam.
"We have obtained a remand order on the suspect from 5 November to 10 November," Sazalee said, adding that the remand is to facilitate further investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Authorities have not disclosed further forensic findings, the cause of death, or whether additional suspects are being investigated.

Namewee had surrendered himself earlier this morning after the police said last night that they could not locate him
On Instagram this morning, Namewee said he had travelled from Johor Bahru to Kuala Lumpur to meet investigators as instructed.
He wrote that he would cooperate fully and had no intention of fleeing.
This comes a day after Kuala Lumpur police said they were unable to locate him following the case's reclassification from sudden death to murder.
Police had earlier stated that Namewee was the last person seen with Hsieh, after the two reportedly spent a night in a hotel room to discuss filming a video.
Hsieh was found dead in the hotel bathtub, with Namewee reportedly being the person who discovered her body.
Police have also not stated if the reclassification was based on new evidence.

He was previously arrested on drug charges
Namewee was arrested on 22 October at the same hotel, where police reportedly found nine blue pills suspected to be ecstasy in the room.
He later tested positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine, ketamine, and THC. However, he denied ever taking drugs.
He was charged with drug possession and consumption, and pleaded not guilty, posting RM4,000 bail for each charge.
