Embattled Malaysian rapper Namewee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, has promised to comply with police investigations on the alleged murder of Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh Yu-hsin
Last night, 4 November, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the 42-year-old could not be located and was believed to have gone into hiding.
However, in an early morning Instagram post today, 5 November, the composer, filmmaker, and actor rubbished such claims and said that he has surrendered himself at a police station in Kuala Lumpur.
"I just arrived in Kuala Lumpur from Johor Bahru. I had already scheduled a time with the police earlier to go to the police station to file a report and to report in," Namewee said.
According to the New Straits Times, citing Dang Wangi police chief ACP Sazalee Adam, the controversial artiste will be remanded later today to assist with police investigations over the alleged murder of Hsieh.
Previously, it was reported that Namewee had gone into hiding.
Namewee said he will fully cooperate with the police to "give the public and the deceased's family an explanation"
"I will not run away. For the seven previous arrest warrants, I voluntarily surrendered myself. I have never fled," he added in his Instagram post.
The rapper is currently under police investigations after the influencer cum OnlyFans creator Hsieh, better known as "Nurse Goddess" for her risqué dressing style, was found dead in a bath tub in Namewee's hotel room.
The controversial artiste was arrested in Kuala Lumpur on 22 October after police allegedly found nine ecstasy pills in a hotel room that he was sharing with the victim.
On 4 November, KL city police confirmed they have reclassified Hsieh's death as a murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code, a major escalation in a case that's gripped both Malaysia and Taiwan's social media circles.

In a separate Instagram post, Namewee rubbished claims that he took or possessed drugs, slamming such news as speculations
"I saw another speculative news report, and I am personally very annoyed. I have also received concern from many people, so I am giving a unified response to everyone here all at once," he said.
"I did not take drugs, nor was I in possession of drugs. At most, I have been drinking more alcohol recently. Believe it if you want, don't believe it if you don't."
Namewee added that the truth will be revealed when the police report comes out, which, he said may take around two or three months.

Namewee also claimed that he and his team are being blackmailed, causing him not to disclose details to the public as the case is still under investigation
"In the past few days, we have also been blackmailed. If you want to keep playing, we are ready to see this through to the end," he said.
