Police have revealed that family disagreements led to the disappearance of British teenager David Renz Balisong, who was found last night in KL after being missing for three months

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said today, 5 September, that the 17-year-old told investigators he left home following an argument with his family and fled to Malaysia on 6 June.

Police are still taking further statements from him, reported the New Straits Times.

Meanwhile, David's mother, Minerva Balisong, has appealed for privacy as she makes arrangements to return home with her son

"For now, I ask the media to give us time as we are still processing documents to return to the UK. We will go home as soon as possible," she told Kosmo!

The mother, however, declined to comment on the nature of the disagreement.

Speaking separately to UK media, Minerva said her son had been cleared by police and that she "cannot wait" to bring him home.

She added that his visa had expired on Thursday, 4 September, and they are currently working with embassy officials to finalise their return.
