A 17-year-old British student who flew to Malaysia without telling his family in June was found safe at a hotel in Jalan Pudu on 4 September
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed that David Renz Galletes Balisong, more commonly known as David Balisong, was located at the Jalan Pudu hotel around 7pm last night, reported the New Straits Times.
"Further details will be announced once further investigations, including the condition of the teenager involved, are completed," he was quoted as saying by FMT.
Balisong, a computer science student at the University of Manchester, had reportedly booked a one-way flight from Manchester to Kuala Lumpur and arrived in the capital city on 6 June.
His family lodged a missing person report after he was last seen boarding a bus to KL Sentral.
He switched off his phone and stopped responding to emails after landing, raising concern among his family. Then on 9 July, he sent an email to his mother, Minerva, telling her not to search for him.
"Among the contents of the email was: 'Don't worry, don't try to find me. I wish all the family members success in life. I apologise for doing this'," Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan shared at the time.

Earlier this month, on 2 September, his mother, who flew to Kuala Lumpur in July to look for him, had appealed for public help through social activist Kuan Chee Heng, also known as Uncle Kentang
In a Facebook post, Kuan shared her plea, stating that she was worried her son might have been lured into Malaysia and that she doubted the authenticity of an email she received claiming Balisong was fine.
She noted the wording did not match her son's usual way of writing.
"She is crying and begging Malaysians for help. Please share. We do not want Malaysia to be a place where youth are being lost," Kuan wrote in his post.
