A 12-year-old girl was allegedly forced to strip to her undergarments and was molested and photographed without her permission by an unidentified man in Melaka

According to the New Straits Times, the traumatised girl was found in a bush near her school in Melaka Tengah yesterday, 26 February.

She was discovered crying in the undergrowth at about 7pm.

A teacher noticed the girl was absent from the school's afternoon extra class after regular lessons ended at 1.05pm

A source said that teachers searched for the girl around the school compound.

"Teachers initially searched the school grounds before checking closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, which showed the pupil leaving the premises around noon."

The girl's parents were informed, and notices of the girl's disappearance were shared across social media platforms.

Another source said the girl left the school compound after mistaking a car for her mother's

However, when she approached the vehicle, she realised that it belonged to a stranger.

The vehicle's driver allegedly chased her when she attempted to flee.

The girl hid in a bush; however, the man found her and allegedly ordered her to strip to her undergarments

The suspect allegedly touched the girl's cheek and took several photos with his smartphone before fleeing.

The girl was found by her family members seven hours after the incident.

She was then taken to Melaka Hospital for a medical examination.

Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said investigations are currently ongoing under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
