A man captured on viral CCTV footage overturning two incense burners at a Nine Emperor Gods temple in Ampang has tested positive for drugs
Ampang Jaya district police chief ACP Mohd Azam Ismail said the 35-year-old suspect was believed to have been intoxicated and under the influence of drugs during the incident yesterday, 29 October, reported the New Straits Times.
He said police were alerted to the incident after the suspect was detained by a People's Volunteer Corps (RELA) officer stationed at the temple.
"The complainant (the RELA member) heard a commotion inside a restaurant located within the temple grounds and saw a man behaving suspiciously.
"He appeared drunk and was talking to himself. When told to leave, the suspect allegedly became aggressive and pushed over incense burners, scattering ashes across the floor," said Mohd Azam.
China Press reported that the suspect was subdued by RELA officers before police arrived at the scene.

Investigations revealed that the suspect has eight prior drug-related offences
"A urine test also returned positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine.
"Initial investigations indicate that the suspect acted in such a manner while under the influence of drugs and alcohol," said Mohd Azam.
The suspect has been remanded to assist investigations under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief.

A 33-second video of the incident went viral yesterday, showing the man toppling two incense burners in front of a praying altar at the temple
In the video, a temple worker appeared shocked when the suspect pushed over the first burner.
When he returned to topple the second one, an employee and a RELA officer tried to stop him, but to no avail.
Photos of the suspect being arrested and escorted out of the temple have also gone viral.
