Man Jailed 12 Months For Using Someone’s Lost Credit Card To Buy Beer

The victim confronted the man at a fast food outlet after receiving alerts of unauthorised transactions.

A 39-year-old man has been sentenced to 12 months in jail for using a lost debit card to buy beer

According to the New Straits Times, Ee Cha Seng was charged with two counts of dishonest misappropriation of property under Section 403 of the Penal Code.

The victim realised he had lost his wallet, which contained the debit card, after receiving two bank notifications of unauthorised transactions totalling RM93.90.

CCTV footage captured Ee using the card to purchase six cans of beer at a convenience store on Jalan Ali in Muar, Johor.

He also attempted to pay for a meal at a fast food restaurant along Jalan Bakri, but the transaction was declined

The alert prompted the victim to head to the fast food outlet, where he confronted Ee.

Ee had only been released two months earlier after serving time for drug-related offences. He also has 29 prior criminal records, NST reported.

In addition to the 12-month jail sentence, he was ordered to receive two strokes of the rotan and fined RM2,000.
