A 31-year-old man has been remanded to assist in investigations into the case of a victim being hit by a vehicle at a toll booth in Penang
According to the New Straits Times, the suspect and his wife were brought to the Bukit Mertajam Magistrate's Court to apply for a remand order today, 30 December.
Only the male suspect was granted a five-day remand to allow police to conduct investigations under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder, while the application for his wife was rejected.

The suspect was arrested after a video went viral, showing a white SUV hitting a man in the RFID lane of the Butterworth Outer Ring Road (BORR) toll plaza
The incident reportedly occurred at around 11.30pm on Sunday, 28 December, when the victim stepped out of his car to ask the suspect, who was in the car behind him, to back up.
The victim said his wife was unable to exit the toll lane due to an RFID detection problem.
The video shows a quarrel breaking out between the two men.
The suspect then got back into his SUV, reversed, and rammed into the victim. The suspect later fled the scene.
After the incident, police arrested the suspect and his wife.
NST reported that the couple tested positive for drugs following urine screening tests.
