A male student was hospitalised after allegedly being beaten unconscious by four of his classmates in a school dormitory toilet in Sungai Petani, Kedah
The victim's mother said she received a call from the school at 9.05am on Monday, 24 November, informing her that her son had been found unconscious in the school toilet.
He was immediately taken to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital for treatment.
Kuala Muda district police chief ACP Hanyan Ramlan said that the mother filed a report, alleging that several students assaulted her son until he lost consciousness.
The bullying incident reportedly occurred around 12.10am on Monday.
Investigations found that the assault took place in the school dormitory and was believed to have stemmed from the victim allegedly speaking ill of a friend of one of the students involved
"As a result, the main suspect reportedly called up three friends to confront the victim, which led to the fight," ACP Hanyan said.
He added that this was the first incident of its kind at the school and noted there were no CCTV cameras at the location.
One of the four students, aged 16, has been remanded at Sungai Petani Court to assist investigations, while the other three were released.
The case is being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code.
