Knife-Wielding Domestic Worker Allegedly Injures Man And Mother In Violent Struggle

A Kuantan man and his mother were injured in a struggle with their domestic helper yesterday, 11 November

According to Bernama, the incident, which occurred in Kota Sultan Ahmad Shah, allegedly started when the 57-year-old woman, who was upstairs at 8.30am, heard her 28-year-old son screaming downstairs.

When she went to check, she found him struggling in the living room with their 44-year-old maid, who was reportedly armed with a knife.

Kuantan police chief Assistant Commissioner Ashari Abu Samah said that the woman tried to intervene, but the suspect allegedly struck her on the head.

When the woman seized the knife, the suspect fled to the kitchen to grab another.

Both victims struggled with the suspect in the kitchen, where the woman reportedly grabbed all sharp objects and threw them outside before calling emergency services.

The man lost his left thumb, and both he and his mother sustained injuries

All three were taken to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for treatment, with the suspect sustaining an injury to her left wrist.

Multiple sharp objects were seized by police at the scene.

The suspect has been detained under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt using dangerous weapons or means.

She faces up to 20 years in prison, a fine, or whipping upon conviction.

The suspect claimed she was under heavy work-related stress at the time of the attack

She also reportedly attempted to harm herself during the altercation.

The motive behind the incident remains under investigation.
