A Johor resident's routine bank visit turned into a nightmare last week, 25 September, when he was hit by a coordinated smash-and-grab robbery just after withdrawing RM100,000 in cash
The victim has since gone public with his ordeal, sharing chilling dashcam footage that points to a meticulously planned operation.
According to the man, the incident began after he withdrew the cash from a bank in Johor Jaya. He then drove to Taman Perling and made a brief stop to purchase some items, at which point the robbers struck.
In less than a minute, the assailants smashed the window of his Tesla and fled with the entire sum.
"I am thankful that the cash was in the car and not on my person. Otherwise, I fear my personal safety would have been under serious threat," the victim, James Khoo, wrote in a widely circulated Facebook post.

The victim suspects that the robbers had advance knowledge of the withdrawal.
"How did they get this information? I went to the bank to withdraw money without notifying anyone, not even my closest relatives. I did not make an appointment with the bank. The methods used [by the robbers] were extremely professional," the post read.
The robbery was allegedly carried out by four individuals, each fleeing in different getaway cars, indicating a well-organised syndicate involving at least eight people.
The victim also identified the four vehicles believed to be involved: two silver Proton Sagas, a Perodua Myvi, and a black Proton Iswara.
Although a police report has been lodged, the victim said he felt compelled to share the story publicly to warn others and urge swift action
"We highly suspect these robbers are staking out the bank or its surroundings, or they have a way of obtaining information on who is making large withdrawals. This was no coincidence, and I hope the police and the bank will investigate this angle seriously," he wrote.
The police have since confirmed that they are tracking down several individuals suspected of being involved in the daylight robbery.
Johor Bahru North police chief ACP Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh said the 34-year-old victim lodged a police report at 1.34pm the same day.
He said initial investigations found that the incident occurred about 10.11am when the victim parked his Tesla with the doors locked. When he returned, he found the driver's side window smashed and the bags of cash gone.
Balveer said the case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft. He urged anyone with information to contact the Johor Bahru Utara district police headquarters at 07-556 3122.
