Ipoh police are on the hunt for two individuals who allegedly damaged a shophouse with a stun grenade on Monday, 1 September
According to Sin Chew Daily, police were alerted to the incident at Panorama Lapangan Perdana on Monday morning.
Ipoh police chief Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said two suspects were caught on CCTV planting what appeared to be an explosive in front of the shop.
After the suspects left on a motorcycle, the device detonated, damaging the shophouse's iron rolling door and floor, and causing minor damage to the signboard and wall of an adjacent shophouse.
No fatalities or injuries were reported, and checks by the police confirmed the device used was a low-grade explosive, specifically a stun grenade.
Police say that the attack was not meant to injure or kill people, but rather to intimidate.

Also known as flashbangs, these weapons are a popular fixture in film and video games, where the loud noise and blinding flash of light produced upon detonation is often used to disorient enemies.
However, while not designed to kill like fragmentation grenades, stun grenades are still explosives capable of causing severe injury or death.
In 2014, a toddler in Georgia, the US was blinded and burned by a stun grenade after SWAT agents mistakenly raided his family's home, leaving them with a USD1 million medical bill.
In 2022, another botched SWAT raid in New Mexico killed a 15-year-old boy after stun grenades were thrown into his home, which caused a fire.
And in 2023, a Palestinian child was left blinded by a stun grenade that was thrown by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank.
