A suspended police officer known online as 'Inspector Sheila' is once again in the spotlight after a video of her confronting several police officers in Kuala Lumpur went viral this week

The incident occurred around 9.30pm on Tuesday, 4 November, in front of a fast food restaurant along Jalan Ipoh, when a police team stopped a 34-year-old Pakistani man operating his vehicle without a license, reported Berita Harian.

The man is believed to be working at a clothing store nearby.

According to Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus, officers were in the midst of carrying out routine checks when the woman, identified as Sheila Sharon Steven Kumar, dressed in a black top and carrying a cross-body bag, approached them from behind, recording the interaction on her phone.

A video of the incident shows her allegedly accusing the officers of threatening the Pakistani man and questioning their conduct on the spot

"You mengugut warga asing," Sheila can be heard yelling at the officers in Bahasa Melayu, which in English translates to "You are threatening a foreigner!"

She then follows up by stating, "Saya ada bukti!" (translates to "I have proof!" in English) while continuing to film them.

Fadil also said that Sheila accused the officers of not knowing the law and spoke to them in a manner that appeared to undermine their authority while they were carrying out their duties.

In another video, Sheila is seen appearing on a TikTok livestream with the Pakistani man, where she continued to imply that the officers had acted improperly.

After the viral incident, the officers involved have since made a police report

The case is now being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code, which deals with obstructing a public servant in the execution of their duties, and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955, which relates to insulting behaviour or conduct that disrupts public peace.

Police added that Sheila has been suspended from duty since 23 June 2023, when she was charged in court with insulting the modesty of two men and criminally intimidating an elderly woman. At the time, she claimed she was being targeted due to "jealousy and discrimination", saying that men "don't like" it when a woman is "loud".

Sheila was formerly attached to Bukit Aman before her suspension.

Meanwhile, Fadil confirmed that investigation papers are being compiled and that further action will be taken based on the findings.
