The husband of Pamela Ling, the woman missing for over a month in a case linked to a corruption probe, was arrested this morning, 15 May, but a court has rejected the police's remand application

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa confirmed that Sarawakian businessman Hah Tiing Siu (also known as Thomas Hah), was detained in the capital earlier today to assist with investigations.

However, when police brought the case to court to request a remand order, a routine procedure for detaining suspects beyond 24 hours, the application was denied by the Putrajaya magistrate.

The reasons for the court's rejection were not disclosed.

"He was arrested to facilitate the investigation," Rusdi said during a brief press conference.

"Further investigations are ongoing," he added, without elaborating on whether the man would be released or if another remand application would be made elsewhere, reported the New Straits Times.

The case has attracted public attention ever since Ling, 42, was reported missing on 9 April while on her way to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya

She was scheduled to give a statement related to an active investigation into alleged corruption and money laundering involving both her and her husband.

Her disappearance, allegedly an abduction, remains unsolved.

No ransom demands have been made, and police have not ruled out any possibilities, including foul play or that she may have fled overseas. Investigators have also stated plans to interview her children in Singapore.
