Footage of a 3-month-old baby being sexually assaulted was circulated and sold, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail

Speaking at his ministry's monthly assembly today, 16 July, he described the case as inconceivable, reported Harian Metro.

"I was briefed (by the police recently) at 12.30am… At that hour, it means it's something serious.

"There is a terrible situation happening right now. It's beyond comprehension. A 3-month-old baby was raped, videotaped, and the footage was sold. That's madness," he said.

The minister did not specify whether the abuse occurred in Malaysia or if the sale of the footage was discovered within the country.

He added that his ministry is currently planning to strengthen the Sexual Women and Child Investigation Division (D11) of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department.

Pressed further by reporters, Saifuddin refused to divulge further details

He said such cases could trigger unnecessary public alarm, reported FMT.

"If it's splashed on the front page, the public reaction becomes something else entirely, even though it may be just a single incident. So I'm not going to give much detail on that," he said.
