Former Singapore Idol judge and veteran music producer Ken Lim, 61, was sentenced to 13 months' jail on Tuesday, 18 November, for molesting a 25-year-old woman at the Hype Records office in 2021
Lim was convicted in September after a full trial, during which Principal District Judge Lee Lit Cheng ruled that the victim was a truthful witness, while Lim was "untruthful" in denying the allegations.
The offence took place on 23 November 2021, during the victim's third work-related interview with Lim. The victim testified that after Lim made suggestive comments, he asked her to kiss him. She complied but felt disgusted, according to The Straits Times.
He then instructed her to kiss him again, but "with more passion". When she complied, he groped her chest, causing her to pull away in shock, Channel News Asia reported.

Judge Lee found that Lim had exploited his authority and the "inherent power imbalance" of the interview
She noted that he "cultivated an image of authority and expertise by mentioning names of local celebrities" to create circumstances that enabled the offence.
As Lim had claimed trial and "did not display any remorse", he was not eligible for a guilty plea reduction. One month of the jail sentence was imposed instead of caning, as offenders over 50 cannot be caned.
This was the second of five scheduled sex-related trials Lim faced
He was previously acquitted in a 2024 case.
Following this molestation conviction, the prosecution applied to withdraw the remaining five charges, and the court granted the withdrawal, meaning the other trials will not proceed. Lim has indicated he will appeal his conviction and sentence, and is currently out on bail.
