Police have arrested the son of a former prime minister after drugs were found in his car during a crime prevention operation along the Sprint Highway near Damansara, Selangor

State police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar confirmed the arrest, telling reporters only, "Yes, I confirm (the arrest)."

He also confirmed that the suspect is the son of a former prime minister but declined to elaborate, according to the New Straits Times.

The arrest took place on Saturday, 23 August, when Petaling Jaya police stopped the suspect's vehicle near the Damansara toll plaza. During the inspection, officers discovered a small amount of heroin and several items believed to be drug paraphernalia.

It is understood that the man, in his 20s, has a history of drug-related offences

The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Unverified details have since circulated online, including claims that the suspect was driving a Ferrari at the time of the arrest.

A document resembling an official police report has also surfaced on social media, stating that 3.16g of heroin were found in a packet labelled "MOTMOD", along with straws, foil, and small containers.

Images of a partially obscured MyKad purportedly belonging to the suspect have also gone viral, with netizens speculating on his identity.

Authorities, however, have yet to confirm any of these claims.
