Man Involved In Deadly Temerloh Crash Charged With Drug Possession

A car driver who fatally crashed into two teenage motorcyclists last week is now facing charges for drug trafficking and possession
According to FMT, Chun Kok Keong, 38, has been charged with four offences, including trafficking and possession of 50.85g of methamphetamine and 0.85g of heroin, which were found in his vehicle during the incident last week, at the Temerloh Magistrate's Court today, 18 June.
Chun, who lives in Kepong and works as a customer service officer, nodded to indicate he understood the charges read out to him.
If convicted, Chun potentially faces the death penalty
Under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, a conviction carries the death penalty, or if not imposed, life imprisonment and 15 strokes of the cane.

Chun was also charged under Section 12(2) of the same Act for his possession of 0.85g of heroin.
For this offence, he could face a maximum fine of RM100,000, up to five years' imprisonment, or both.
Chun pleaded not guilty to this offence.
He also pleaded not guilty to two charges of dangerous driving, which under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333) could land him in jail for up to 10 years, along with a fine of up to RM50,000.
What happened in the incident that claimed the lives of two teenagers last week?
Chun was arrested by police following a deadly crash in Temerloh last Wednesday night, 11 June, when the Perodua Bezza he was driving crashed into a motorcycle ridden by two teenagers.
Nur Irdina Shaffiya Muhammad Nazri and Aneez Irdiena Sofya Khairul Azman, both 18, died on the spot.
According to the New Straits Times, district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mazlan Hassan said that Nur Irdina had stopped her motorcycle at a traffic light when Chun rammed his car into the girls from behind, killing them instantly.
An inspection of Chun's vehicle at the Temerloh district police headquarters subsequently uncovered illicit substances with an estimated value of RM6,100. Chun tested negative for drugs.
Malay Mail reported that, as drug trafficking is a non-bailable offence, Chun has not been allowed bail.
