Melaka Double Murder: Victim Was Ex-School Vice Principal Who Chose To Return To Teaching

The mother who was allegedly killed by her Form 5 son in the recent Melaka double murder case was as a dedicated educator who once served as a school vice principal

According to China Press, the victim had requested a transfer back to return to a teaching role after stepping down from her position in school administration.

SJK(C) Malim's school chairman said the 51-year-old victim was transferred to the Melaka primary school in April 2023 to serve as an English teacher.

He said she was highly respected by the school board, the parents and teachers association (PIBG), and well-loved by her students.

"Although her tenure here was relatively short, she was an incredibly dedicated teacher," he told the Chinese daily.

School principal Tan Suh Chin also paid tribute, saying that the victim consistently showed strong commitment to her duties and genuine care for her students

As a gesture of respect and remembrance, the school observed a one-minute silence this morning involving all students and staff.

An obituary posted on the school's official Facebook page described the late teacher as kind and caring, noting that she was "a dedicated, compassionate, and respected teacher by all members of the school".

To honour her contributions of the deceased, the school invited teachers, staff members, and students to attend the funeral or memorial service to pay their final respects.

In a separate statement reported by Sin Chew Daily today, 13 June, Tan urged the public to refrain from posting comments that could cause further distress to the grieving family. She called for respect towards the deceased and reminded netizens to be mindful of their words.

She added that the matter should be left to the police, stressing that no one wished for such a tragedy and that the school had lost a dedicated and caring educator.
